For Summer 2011, Opera Warwick put on a production which was entirely new and unique, featuring an original script by Sam Worthington, and artistically directed by Harriet Birchall.
Rather than simply staging a conventional Opera, the society took the decision to run with a playful skits and scenes idea for their summer offering, using the familiar story of Alice to showcase the best that the world of Opera has to offer.
Featuring a range of themes and arias from Operas across the ages, with everything from Verdi to Sondheim, this production really succeeded in bringing to life the whimy, paradoxical sentiments of Caroll's original text. The 35-piece cast even had the opportunity of taking Alice to the bright lights of London, performing in St Paul's Church in Covent Garden.
