Dubbed by our very own student newspaper as "Don Giovanni meets Mad Men", for this production Opera Warwick had a vision of bringing Puccini's classic into the swinging sixties, combining cool retro style with the deadly world of Mafia rivarly.
Don Giovanni is a maverick mobster out to manipulate, charm and lie to get exactly what he wants and who he wants. Performing unspeakable acts of violence and debauchery along the way, the Don slowly decends further and further into his own depravity, ultimately being forced to confront his own demons in a spectacular finale.
The production ran from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th January in 2014. With an exclusive, purpose-written English translation, plus the use of the Arts Centre's grand main stage, this dark and enthralling classic was made accessible to a whole new audience.
